Or perhaps the most famous Gattinara of all! The grapes—from vines planted in the 1940s—are harvested by hand in October, pressed, and aged for 36 months in large barrels. We pour it and feel as if the glass is overflowing with red fruits, rose petals, and violets. With every sip, we discover spices, herbs, and mineral aromas: flint, black pepper, tobacco. The wine is full-bodied, fresh, and has a very fine tannin structure. This Nebbiolo is in no way inferior to the expressiveness of a truly great wine from the Langhe, yet is quite affordable.
